Do I Need to Keep Game Launchers Installed to Play My Games Through Kodex?

Edited

If you purchased a game through any third-party storefront or launcher, you will still need to keep that platform installed to launch and play those games through Kodex.

Why Launchers Are Still Required

Kodex brings your entire game library together in one place, making it easy to view, organize, and launch your collection. However, Kodex does not replace the authentication or verification systems used by game storefronts.

Most launchers handle important tasks such as:

  • Verifying your ownership of the game

  • Checking and applying updates when required

  • Managing DRM and security validation

  • Providing services the game depends on to run

Because these checks are handled by the launcher, any game purchased through a specific platform must still use that platform?s authentication when you start it from Kodex.

What Kodex Does

Kodex provides:

  • A unified library for all your games

  • Tools to organize and manage your collection

  • A simpler way to launch games from different platforms

  • Game discovery and recommendations, which may use information from your existing libraries to suggest new titles you might enjoy.

Kodex cannot bypass or replace the license verification or DRM requirements handled by each game launcher.

Can I Uninstall My Game Launchers?

If you uninstall a launcher for a platform where you purchased games, you may not be able to launch or play those games through Kodex, even if they appear in your library.
